Oats Hair Conditioner

AVENA SATIVA oats

Traditionally, oats are used to make porridge. This is a good thing, reduce asthma risk in children, decrease bad cholesterol levels, helps to lose weight increasing your appetite-control hormones and a long list of health benefits which comes from this super food. But what about from the cosmetic point of view? To be honest, IT'S AMAZING!

The use of oats in skin care dates back to around 2000 BC in Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula. In various forms (food, tea, baths), oats were used to treat insomnia, anxiety and skin conditions including eczema, burns and other inflammatory eruptions. Today oatmeal is a recognised treatment for dermatitis, burns, inflamed, itchy and sensitive skin. It contains a very high level of important natural antioxidants, including tocols and a class of alkyl phenolates unique to oats. Rich in essential fatty acids and natural emollients, this product provides excellent softening, smoothing and hydrating actives for skin, cosmetic and hair products. For hair care, oat hair conditioner, contains beta glucan that strengthens the hair, increases comb-ability, improves elasticity and works to protect against brittleness and damage.

Ingredients:

  • Water

  • 1 cup of rolled Oats

  • 1 tbsp Argan or Jojoba oil

  • 7 drops of a blend of essential oils

Place the oats and the water in a large pan over a medium heat. Add a tiny pinch of salt and stir with a wooden spoon. Bring to a steady simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring as often as you can to give you a smooth, creamy porridge until you've got the consistency you like. Then strain in a bowl by pressing the oats to get as many actives ingredients as possible. Once you've got the thick paste you can add some drops (I would say 7 drops, no more than 10) of essential oils of your choice and 1 tbsp of Argan or Jojoba oil. The ideals for a shinning & healthy hair are Ylang Ylang, & Orange. Rosemary & Lemon is wonderful against hair lost, and Lavender with Sage & Lemon help for oily hair. Whip whip whip vigorously!!! You're going to get 250 ml of conditioner approximately. Be aware if you get a smaller quantity, the proportion of the essential and vegetal oils would change.


AVENA SATIVA OATS

This conditioner can be used by any type of hair, however, it doesn't help to get an easy and soft brushing for curly and long hair, so you would need something else for this purpose. It's absolutely amazing for shorts, mediums and fine hairs. And it's marvellous, calming a sensitive scalp. And even if it doesn't make easier your brushing, it does deeply improve your hair as a treatment. The benefit of using oats are their peptides, which in skin or hair products hinges on their ability to form a protective film which imparts protection and moisture.

Tip: If you have dry and sensitive skin, you can also use the thick paste before adding

any oil as a calming mask. You would blend the oats paste with marigold oil (1 tsp) and add 3 drops of lavender or chamomile essential oil. Massage gently into your face, and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse off with light warm water the excess and you're ready for the next adventure!
